FIRST MINISTER ANNOUNCES EXTENSION TO MEDF

First Minister Rt. Hon. Peter D. Robinson MLA has announced a six-month extension to the Minority Ethnic Development Fund. This will allow time to progress work on a revised Racial Equality Strategy in line with recommendations identified in a recent evaluation of the Minority Ethnic Development Fund (MEDF). Whilst the current funding ended in September 2012, this extended funding will allow groups already in receipt of the Fund the assurance of support until the end of this financial year. The First Minister said:

"We welcome that the Minority Ethnic Development Fund (MEDF) has remained uncut at £1.1million. This reflects our determination to provide our maximum support in these fiscally challenging times to some of the most vulnerable people in our shared community."
