  Press Releases:

First Minister the Rt. Hon. Peter D Robinson MLA has congratulated local brothers Peter and Richard Chambers on their great achievement on winning silver at the London Olympics. The Coleraine duo, who are members of the Bann Rowing Club, were part of the Team GB & NI Lightweight four crew who, along with colleagues Rob Williams and Chris Bartley, came with a strong finish but lost out narrowly to South Africa, who just managed to beat them to the gold medal. Praising the rowers for their efforts the First Minister said:

"I offer my sincere congratulations to Peter and Richard on this is historic achievement in becoming the first brothers from Northern Ireland to win Olympic medals. They have worked hard for this success and while they fell just inches short of the ultimate prize, they can be very proud of their achievement on the biggest stage of all. Their Olympic medal is fitting and just reward for the many hours they have spent in preparation for this day and I hope that their achievement will inspire further success for Northern Ireland competitors in the days ahead.”
